Organic Powder Milk Popular Among Chinese Mothers

The DITP revealed on January 10 that the demand for organic milk powder is rising among Chinese mothers who are willing to pay a premium to ensure the safety of their baby, offering an opportunity for Thai traders to increase exports.

DITP Director-General Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat said that, “The DITP overseas office in Qingdao reported that the organic milk powder market has a great potential for growth as mothers are highly selective of the powder milk they feed their baby, combined with the change in China’s policy that allows families to have more than one child.”

In the first 11 months of 2017, Thailand exported US$217 million’s worth of milk and dairy products, a 6% increase on 2016. China was the eight biggest importer of milk and dairy from Thailand.
