Importers from China, Japan, India, Indonesia and Turkey signed MoUs to purchase 1.49 million tonnes of tapioca, worth US$419 million (14 billion baht), from Thai traders at the World Tapioca Conference 2018 held from June 27 to 28 in Bangkok.
Thailand is the world’s largest exporter of tapioca products, controlling more than 50% of the global market. It exported 11 million tonnes of tapioca products in 2017. For the first four months of this year, the country exported 3.6 million tonnes of tapioca products worth US$35 million (1.178 billion baht) in total.
