Thailand-Germany Seeks Stronger Cooperation

Minister of Commerce Sontirat Sontijirawong had a meeting with Germany’s Ambassador to Thailand Peter Pruegel on January 22 at the Ministry of Commerce Office in Nonthaburi.

They discussed the potential of further strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Thailand and Germany.

“We invite German enterprises to invest in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). So far, German investors have expressed their interest in the automobile industry, particularly in hybrid cars, and the agricultural sector,” Sontijirawond said.

Data from the Ministry of Commerce showed that currently, Germany is Thailand’s 13th largest trading partner, with bilateral trade totalling US$10.99 billion in 2017.
